Our Why
We believe the past shouldn’t just be remembered — it should be felt.In today’s world, the Holocaust and other pivotal moments in history are often reduced to a few textbook facts, glossed over in a matter of days. But for young people to truly care, they need to hear the stories.Stories of real kids — just like them — who made unthinkable choices with unshakable courage. Stefania Podgórska, who we first met in The Light in Hidden Places, was only 16. Helena, her sister, just 6. Together, they helped rescue 13 Jews whose lives went on to impact countless others.These stories matter — not just because they happened, but because they show us what’s possible when ordinary people choose compassion over fear.Through books, honest conversations, and a willingness to explore the hard parts of history, we’re helping young people reflect, connect, and carry forward the lessons that still echo today.
About Us
Courage by the Chapter began as a heartfelt idea between Rayna and her mom, Stephanie— both passionate about books and brave conversations. Together, we're exploring what it means to listen, learn, and love more deeply — and inviting others to do the same.With backgrounds in education & nonprofits, yoga, and family life, we bring together mindfulness, storytelling, and a desire to help youth (and grown-ups) better understand themselves and others.This project is a labor of love — and a commitment to a more engaged and compassionate world.
